When y'all are night hunting for hogs or something what do you do to pass the time? I love to do it but I just get so bored.

If you are sitting, you can use an iPod to listen to soft music or Books-on-tape. Got to be able to hear hog noises, though. Wouldn't work that well walking around.

Set up a wireless motion detector, when the hogs arrive, the sensor wakes me up.

Nap. The hog light and the commotion will wake you.

Don't know what your set up is, but I have LED hog lights over feeders that I hunt at night. Normally, I have something under the feeder to keep me entertained (Coons, Deer, Fox, etc). I always take binoculars with me (since my stands are 100 yds. away) so I can watch the animals. Sometimes I will play around putting my scope cross-hairs on whatever is under the feeder just to see how steady I can be.

If I get REALLY bored, I will even get my phone out and text my brother or google something, but my eyes have to regain their night vision each time I do that, so I keep that to a minimum. Typically, I won't go and sit on a stand unless I can stay 5 to 7 hours (I have pulled all-nighters on occasion).

I also enjoy just listening the all the 'night sounds'. I hunt primarily in Deep East Texas right in the Pineywoods, so there are plenty of 'night sounds'.

Find some way to keep yourself amused.

Between the commute and time in the stand, I listen to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts, just one earbud in, however. That is about half the night. The rest of the time, I am listening to the night.

In a couple of places, I can do some texting and such, but in others, I cannot. Depends on my distance to the target area and the type of stand I am in.

Ground sitting and stalking means no audiobooks or texting.

I always go out with good intentions but usually pass out. Something about sitting in the blind, in my office chair, in the woods, puts me right to sleep.

Guess I do little of all of it
Rest from getting there, get everything ready ,
Be happy I'm there, enjoy sunset and scenery
Take nap or check forum out ,listen to all the critters
That come out after dark, starting wondering if they are
Going to show up ,,, then quit worrying, then start to
Get ready to be done ,,,, then the pigs show up

For the most part, I find it easy to do little at night and just think my thoughts. I love being out at night when there's a half moon or better. The night feels so ... alive.

I actually use two driveway alarms, one I disabled the speaker so it just flashes a red light the other I have duct taped a towel around as it is kind of loud Even on the low setting.

Up In the north east hunting coyotes at night, we don't usually sit on a bait pile waiting for them to arrive, unless you find a deer gut pile that shows sign's of a fresh visit.
I have multiple stands that I go to depending on wind direction and call for around 15 minutes.
I scan with the thermal every couple of minutes and if nothing show's up, I move.
Between scanning/calling, I look at the stars and just listen to the night sounds.
If I'm in a tree stand, I might take a nap, cause I don't want to wake up with something drooling over my face !

Ty Dalee and Charlie. I'll check those out.

I'm also using the Chamberlain. It works pretty well and the signal can reach 400' through thick trees, but it doesn't work well during/after rain when all the trees are wet.
