Big East Texas Hog - 10/23/15 08:32 PM

Checked my game cam last weekend and found this brut hanging around. Any guess on his weight?

Sort of like the price is right, but what is the prize?

Hard to guess without a reference. Looks awful stout with a lot of muscle and bone though. He'll be a prize to get no matter how much.

Guessing that the t post to the left sticks up 3 1/2' I'll say about 250. That guy is built like a tank.

scratch judging from pic can be tough.. What's the weight of a hog with 38" girth using rope ? i don't carry tape when hunting, although friend & i used a rope that i used ta hold me britches up ta drag hog little over a mile back ta truck at OSB, we forgot back packs... Looking at pic, the stake holding feeder down, guessing it 2ft above ground... It closer ta pic than hog... it could go 180#... Tis fun ta guess... flag

Odd angle image, but over 200 sounds good. Based on how he looks and the shape of his head, he still has some filling out to do and he is going to be a monster if you don't get him soon.

I'm guessing just north of 200. He is young for sure. How tall are the t-posts in the picture?

Have him turn around so we can see his boys. That gives you a better idea of the age and anticipated weight.

My guess is 275 in that picture.

Re: Big East Texas Hog - 11/04/15 10:43 PM

My eyes not what they used ta be... Thought that was a re-bar sticking bout 2' above ground... If its a 3 1/2' that hog go 300+# coolpics it is stout... Choot-em, tape-em, pudd-em in the frying pan for momma & you... flag

250!

Re: Big East Texas Hog - 11/13/15 03:38 PM

Just guessing like everyone else, but I'd say >200, maybe 225. He has really good muscle definition on the hindquarters and shoulders, which to me indicates he could fill out quite a bit more if he gets a good food supply.

Re: Big East Texas Hog - 11/13/15 04:56 PM

2cents muscle definition can fool ya ta actual size... Good friend at foundry, we called iron arms , lifted weights, arms were big .. i had good definition, guy emptying bucket while i was shoveling slag in hole, said:
Quote:
look at his arms, he'a got bumps on bumps

It made my arms look bigger, at 140#, could curl 60# , just didn't have the chest & shoulder muscles.. Weight lifters build bulk then light weights, & more reps for definition.. would still like ta know length of rebar or t-post sticking out.. That will determine size of hog more than muscle definition... i got cheap posts... flag

Re: Big East Texas Hog - 11/13/15 09:21 PM

I'm guessing 200ish but, if you get him, you can sit about 5 feet behind him and make him look like HOGZILLA and post it for the world to see. You'll get lots of attention too. wink
