Who has personal experience with killing hogs using a 30-30. What off the shelf ammo works well on these thick skinned creatures?

I have used 150 & 170 grain, Green, Blue, Gray boxes, plus reloads of mine. Most shots have been within 125 yds. Some fall and shudder, few fall and run, but those that get up are most likely due to bad bullet placement on my part. Can only speak on personal experience and that only covers about 25 hogs of various sizes.

First 3 hogs shot at with30-30 never found... Good blood trail... Son took two same rifle & ammo, so just bad on my part... Been having great luck with .223 Shot placement.... Difference in target & hunting situation... Just bad shooting on my part...

Both my sons and I have shot numerous hogs with my Glenfield 30-30. Rarely do they run off- usually 'BANG' = 'FLOP'. I generally use shelf ammo (150gr Remington corelokts). Have shot a few with my own handloads (again with 150gr). Does not seem to matter if they are flatnose or roundnose.
Favorite round for pigs is the 30/30, I load with 110 grain and get very little recoil, but store bought is 150 grain.

I killed a 170 inch non typical buck with a Glenfield 30 30, but dont recall killing any hogs with it, because 20 years ago hogs were more or less a non existent where I hunted.

I've had great luck on using Winchester 150 Gr. power points.

Academy sell a Winchester Power Max Bonded (black box) for under $20 for the 30-30.
I tried some recently and was surprised how accurate they are; as good as my custom hand-loads.
plus, you CANT beat a bonded bullet. Bang- FLOP.
Way more accurate than the standard fed blue box and Rem core loc's.
I like the hornady flex-tip (when hunting deer); but for hogs and other blasting, the power-max is now my favorite.

Personally never shot anything with a 3030. My cousin brought his out to our place shooting 170 grain rem green/yellow box ammo and never had a problem collecting a hog.

Ohh, Academy has Remington 'hog hammer' 30-30( with Barnes TSX copper bullet) on clearance for about $20 a box
Rem has a $5 rebate per box (up to 4 boxes) , so at $15 a box awesome deal for TSX;
I cant even load them myself this cheap; grabbed a bunch of boxes -
havent tried on hogs yet, but they should work well (especially on 2-for-1 shots !).

Remington Core lokt 150gr will do the trick

I like the Core lokt 170gr myself. If their big and more than 150 yards then you need to hit'em right. I've had a couple of big ones grunt and bolt with solid impact, never saw any blood.
