I've been hunting this dude for months. He busted me every time before. I played a little trick on him tonight and he caught a Grendel round to the eyebrow.

Yes, DO TELL!!!
It's even better when you are after a nemesis that has won before.
I also feel your victory as I have spent plenty of time chasing various educated pigs myself....
It is always good to get a nemesis. Congrats!
Thanks for all the congrats! I woke up in a good mood for sure!
That was the 6th time I've hunted that boar. On 3 occasions he didn't show up at all, which was frustrating because he'd been on camera every night. 2 times I could see him way back in the treeline, just staring straight at my blind. He knew I was in there somehow. I came to the conclusion that he was getting spooked by the IR illuminator on my night vision scope. That's when I came up with my plan.
The IR flash on my trailcam lights up the whole area where the pigs feed. What if instead of the flash, I set the cam to video so the light stays on continuously?
I got there early, switched the cam to video for the 5 minute max. I knew it was going to work when a couple of young bucks walked up at dusk and set the video off. I could see them perfectly through the scope without turning on my illuminator. A few hours later, I looked through the scope to do a quick check. Noticed the video light was on. Swept to the left. There was Pig Daddy. Put the green dot on his forehead. Bang! Flop! And that's the story of him. And I got it on video on my trailcam. Bonus!

That's awesome man. Did you get him right here in Greenville? Im right down the road from you in Caddo Mills. I didnt think Hunt County held any that size. Evidently Im not looking in the right spots. Congrats again! If that were mine Id definitely be doing a shoulder mount for my garage.

Great info for future hunts. I'll have to try that as I have had both hogs and coyotes shy from my IR at times.

Yes Sir, it's the smart ones that make us keep coming back and ultimately make us better hunters. Good to see another Grendeler out there.
I think he told me over the phone that the problem wasnt the IR lights itself, it was the IR lights moving around as he shouldered his rifle. We all know that you can see a faint red glow from them, so Im sure pigs can notice it too.
I believe we (myself and ImTheReasonDovesMourn) were going to work on a remotely activated, battery operated IR Illuminator array, preferably over 900nm wavelength. The plan is to have them mounted in the Trees above the pigs eyesight, and have them either triggered by a remote control, or run on a photosensor that automatically turns on at dark. I have sourced the parts for the build, but have not committed to it yet. Currently working on a DVR system for the Photon NV thats WELL under the cheapest commercially available.
So many projects, so little money/time
As far as the video goes. ImTheReasonDovesMourn is bringing it over tomorrow so I can edit and upload it. If I remember, I will try and have it up by tomorrow evening.
Here's the trailcam video, Thanks CSD!

I can remember setting my sights on a specific hog or two. Its kind of like hunting the lock ness monster. They can be elusive, but luckily the have runs and hang outs like white tail bucks, so they can be patterned to kill.
nice hog, hope you didn't use your back to load that one.
