Hog trap - 06/09/15 02:33 PM
Put this up using some old portable corral that was laying around. Hogs are bad and rooting clear up to our cabin. Got it baited and will set it in a few weeks.
Nice. Need a remote trigger on that bad boy with a live camera feed as well. Keep us posted.

I hadn't thought about a remote trigger. It's about 100 yards from the cabin, they work from that far?
With it being that close I'd definitely setup something like a gsm switch and a wifi camera. Heck even a cheapy security camera might possibly work being that close to the cabin. You don't want to educate 3/4 of the sounder about traps by only catching a few of them. You'll want to wait them out until most or all of them are inside.

Cool I'll check it out. Souring some corn in there now and it will remain open for at least 3 weeks so hopefully they'll be used to going in there by the time I set it. The cabin has been vacant for over 10 years, so it doesn't bother them.

Looks Good !!
Remote triggers are very nice, but realistically most folks just use a trip wire or something similar.
That is, if I could afford a remote trigger and camera, I'd have one. But I'm not doing so much trapping that it's economically feasible.

Thanks, same here. Hope to post up some catch pics in a few weeks.
Looks stout. It is neat that deer can jump out, but I cannot tell if you have any means of keeping pigs from climbing out.
Smaller ones will also climb and go out of the higher bigger holes.
I had 4 small pigs in a trap. When I got there, there were only two. The game camera had pictures of them going out through the top holes. I added some chicken wire that I had to the top few rows, problem solved.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Just make sure you double wire weak spots and stake it firmly. The power of a large hog will really surprise you.
