If you shoot a pig at night and don't find it until the next morning while the temps are in the mid 40's, would you consider the meat good to eat?

At 40 degrees, the side on the ground is not gonna chill, and doubtful that the top side chilled fast enough with the guts still inside. I'll pass.

I agree. Overnight with the guts inside is just too long, even in 40°F weather. Hog meat goes rancid pretty quickly.

Hogs dont sweat...thats why they like mud,nighttime and waterholes..so when you put one down they just lay there and heat up for awhile,hide and fat layer dont help ,and they cool off much slower than pretty much every other living thing..drop em and clean em as fast as time allows...hunt the gutpile.
