300 blackout and pig hunting - 02/05/13 07:30 PM

Any of you guys hunt hogs with 300AAC? I'm Thinking about building one just for pig hunging that will range out to about 200 yards max. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Chris

Use it all the time, out to about 80 yards for me works great

200 would be pushing it...my friends bolt action chambered in 300 blk out is awesome and quite out to about 150 but after that it drops drastically...about 20-30 inches....i still prefer my 6.8

depends on whether you are shooting subs or supers, can easily do 200 yards with supersonics, but to me the BLK is a sub gun, other options that are better if shooting supersonic all the time, if your goal is suppressed subs, good gun, not good bullet selection that expand at sub velocities, so need to make neck/head shots

i plan on getting mine out when of these trips to the lease, 220's suppressed

7.62X39 is better and seriously cheaper if not suppressed

I built a 300BLK for my dad for his birthday not too long ago and if you are shootin subs then 200yds is pushin it especially if it's yotes and they are runnin lol don't ask me how I know. I ordered him some 110gr ballistic tip supers and I would try 200 any day but have yet to see anything to shoot with it yet smirk

We use 300AAC, 9 inch barrel with the AAC 7.62 SDn6 suppressor. All night vision and IR laser. Sighted in at 50 yards. Yes, subsonic we have had many issues with bullet expansion. Actually dug a bullet out of a pig and could have reloaded it. We have gone to supersonic and they have had no issues and isn't drastically louder at supersonic.

Hope to have my AAC 7.62 SDN6 this month. It will mainly be used on by 300blackout. Can't wait, its been a long 7-8 months. Called back in Jan. and they said should be approved in Feb.

I like using my 300 for hog hunting. I don't get any 200 yard shots where I am but I wouldnt worry about it with supersonics.

I have a 300BLK. It's a CMMG. I use the 300Wisper 110Vmax because they cycle the best. Just got my stamp and will be sending it to Silenced America for my SDN6! Going to put a cheap NV scope and use it exclusively on pigs at my property. I will be stalking and taking shots under 100yds. Going to try subs too.

PS...it took 6 months for the stamp to be processed.

Shot a bunch of deer this year with the Barnes 110 gr and a max powder load. Not very loud through a suppressor and they were all DRT.

Subsonics won't even knock over a Raccoon. Bullet pencils through with no expansion.
