Sunday was a good day - 02/12/18 03:18 PM
Saturday was a little rough for me as I had to let my best dog go to another hunter. It is hard to make adult decisions, but with aggression issues and small kids it just doesn’t mix. I had the pleasure Saturday morning to hunt over Annie for the last time and show her new owner how she works. She did great and pointed two coveys and hunted dead with her muzzle like a champ. It was a great way to see my dog off to a new person and I know she is going to a good owner. On Sunday it started out at a chilly 21 degrees with a little ice, wind, and moisture. My dog Elsa really stepped up and had her best day ever. She pointed 16 coveys today and retrieved 16 birds. Lipan Creep and I had a great day it was amazing what a little moisture can do. I have never had a dog work as good as she did today and with as tough as this season has been, today ranked with last years numbers. My other dog Lucy is still learning and can only hunt hard for about 20 minutes at a time and she had one find today. We had 12 finds in the morning hunting till noon and 4 more that evening.
