Season's first hunt coming up.

Looks like the temps for next weekend will be perfect, so we're packing dogs and guns and heading west.
Word is lots of birds so I'm hoping to get in some good dog work with the pup.

Any body have any recent reports?

Hunted oklahomas opener this weekend. Hunted two days, saw one covey and shot two birds...

Still beats staying at home.

I'm heading to New Mexico for the opener on Wednesday to chase some Blues.

I'll be headed to Matador this weekend. I heard people had a hard time in there but I'm not scared. I got one dog but she is a great one......and if worse comes to worse I'll hunt the lease. I still haven't killed a blue quail so I'm tempted to try public land farther west.

People only have a hard time there because they don't want to put in the work! Get ready for a lot of people though. I only go during the week to avoid the crowds. Even then, still run into people and have to wrangle the dogs. Maybe since the counts are low, there won't be as many people. Last year we ran into people from 5 different states outside Texas.

Yes I remember it was a zoo. I know that place well. I've hunted it when it was at its worst. I love it out there.

I pulled the plug on mine, the weatherman bombed it.

It should be better Sunday and Monday. I’ll travel Saturday and hunt Sunday and Monday morning. Humidity will be low though.
