We hope to see some of those wild pheasant photos. Hear hunting stories, how many birds flushed, how many missed and the number of hens and roosters seen. I hope everybody has a great hunt.
Pics were taken the first hour of our hunt. So far, 2 pheasant, and 8 quail. Tired as all get out! Getting a quick bite to eat and heading back after a Nap!!!!! I almost forgot, my little english pointer, pointed her first quail today!!!!
It was good to meet you and the family CatchDog. We considered our hunt a success with two roosters in the bag. Jumped 8 hens but these were the only two roosters we flushed. I froze when the first one flushed but my brother got him. The second one was gaining altitude in a hurry but I was able to connect. We must've walked bout ten miles it seemed. I had three roosters fly right in front of my truck on our way back to Plainview. Didn't see any quail. Did you get to try out that new shotgun? Congrats on winning it.
Congrats my friend. And it was a pleasure to meet you and your brother... We didn't hear from yall all day so I figured yall were neck deep in birds.. We had a great time and will probably be heading back up there before Christmas... And yes, I was able to muster a shot off on pheasant yesterday morning with it.
Love hunting ditch chickens! Nothing like wild birds to make you work and deserve a good hunt! Pin rasied birds just ain't the same. Been too long since I got to hunt up around Spearman area. Looks like had some good hunts around Plainview.
Had good luck around Hale Center on Saturday (maybe because I was hunting with a couple of Hale's). Eight hunters got 10 pheasants and about 60 quail. Sunday we hunted around Floydada and got another 25 - 30 quail, but no pheasants. Saw one rooster but he made good on his escape. Most of the fields around Floydada were cotton, while we hunted around more grain fields at Hale Center. The key was finding the tallest, nastiest CRP and busting through it. I passed on a lot of shots on quail because I couldn't see the other hunters or the dogs. Good times for sure.
That's awesome! He told us about the video but we couldn't find it. They also said to keep an eye out for a TV show featuring the Texas Game Wardens, Lone Star Law I believe.
