South Central KS Report - 11/24/15 08:17 PM
Had a great trip this past weekend chasing pheasants and quail in S Central Kansas. We had 7 seven guys the first day and 5 on Sunday. 40 birds total first day (across mix of pheasant and quail), and 20 pheasants and 10 quail Sunday. Best weather for a Kansas pheasant hunt we have had in about 7 years, lower around 25 and high around 50 with 10 mph wind each day. Decent moisture in the ground from the heavy rain on Wed. Nice dog work where the dogs could roll good (e.g. where the CRP wasn't thick as snot). Didnt lose very many downed birds as scenting conditions were pretty good. Quail coveys varied from 15 to 30. Would guess the pheasants were up 30% from last year and the quail 60 to 80%. Good times.
