I really like my 12ga A5 in camo. I might need to add a nice wood stock 16ga to the family. First on the list is a Citori though.

I got a '49 last year for the wife, what an incredible gun! It or an Ithaca 37 in 16 gauge make the perfect pheasant gun.

What is your birdstick of preference, Bill? Curious minds want to know.

I like my Beretta O/U with 26 inch barrels bored skeet and skeet. The hulls come out and go in my game vest.

Sounds like a great choice.

Got to admit I never heard anyone give 4 months notice before a gun is on sale. I am with bill on this one about an A 5

You can load a 20 up to a 16, or a 12 down to a 16. Store bought shells are difficult to find and expensive.

Also Ray, your link didn't work.

How much? I have a 12 A-5 new model and might be interested. I just came back from SD with limits each day. The A-5 did just fine.

My bad, I was under the impression that you were selling one. When they come on the market I'll look at them through Gallery of Guns.

Wore out 2 A-5 12 ga, got a Franchi, loved it. Then I got my street sweeper Binelli. 21" barrel with tube extension. Bird eradicator. Great in brush for quail or corn for pheasant. Old boss told me if I ever get rid of you, you could probably get a job as a prison guard with that thing!

Good news I will be taking mine in two weeks

Re: A-5 Sweet 16 - 10/29/15 04:08 PM

I have a very bad right shoulder and refuse to get it repaired so shooting can cause me some pain. I have the Remington 1100 in 28 Ga and really enjoy shooting it and I am very effective with it on quail.

Your telling me you were out 2 A-5's since 2011? You do know how to clean a shotgun, right?

Since 1968. The original A—5. Both still shoot, but new guns are like new golf clubs. You say the old ones are worn out so you can buy new!

So you haven't shot or hunted with the new A-5?

Re: A-5 Sweet 16 - 10/31/15 02:26 PM

No, between Franchi and Binellli I'm good to go.

Re: A-5 Sweet 16 - 11/01/15 11:48 AM

I bought my A-5 two years ago and it is just like Browning says....."Simply the Best"... IMHO...

Re: A-5 Sweet 16 - 11/01/15 03:14 PM

I like to pick up my hulls as well. However I wasn't able to take the pounding of my O/U or pump on my shoulder anymore. The Beretta allows me to hunt without near as much discomfort.

I do spend more time looking for spent shells though . . .

Re: A-5 Sweet 16 - 11/01/15 07:27 PM

I have a Beretta A400 Xplor in 20 ga. I let a guy at the range shoot it who was older and not liking the recoil of his O/U, after he shot it, he asked "did it go off"
I'm beginning to get real partial to my 28 ga. O/U
