Sheared the drive shaft just above the prop yesterday on the 23hp long tail I just bought Friday. I'm guessing it had a crack or something in it when I bought it because it really didn't hit anything hard at all. My question is, where can I get this fixed, or is replacing a drive shaft something that is simple enough to do myself. I was wanting to possibly get a new one machined out of stainless steel. Do I need to replace all the bearings while I have it taken apart?

My opinion is the best place for all longtail parts is www.backwaterinc.com call him he is a great dude to talk to knows the mudbuddy longtail well. I had a mudbuddy lt. Those guys seemed to only care about their latest and greatest surface drive.

Backwater sells conversion kits. Not sure if they fit your frame but I'd look into it.
