Ammunition to Alaska?

For those of you who have waterfowl hunted in Alaska. How did you get ammunition to Alaska? I will be hunting in Cold Bay for six days. Most airlines only allow you 11 pounds and I am sure I will need more than that.

Why not buy a few cases from Rogers and just pay the extra to ship it there?

Take all the foam out of your hard case and pack gun with clothes/ammo.

I travel plenty in the lower 48 with ammo in my luggage. I guess the question I meant to ask was more along the lines of "Is there anywhere in Anchorage to buy ammo? Places that have a reliable selection." In Alaska it is ok to check up to 50 pounds of ammo. I can't do that from the Texas to Alaska.

Don’t know if weight restrictions change, but you will absolutely have plenty of options such as Sportsman’s Warehouse, Cabelas, etc.

That will work. I will buy them in Anchorage at one of these stores.

Some airlines won’t let you have ammo in same baggage as firearm. Just an FYI.

There are plenty of places all over Alaska that keep well stocked with ammo.

American and Alaskan don’t mind as long as it’s in original boxes (not loose) and checked/locked.

I checked Bass Pro and Cabelas in Alaska and they have limited supply of the shells I normally shoot but plenty of other shells.

Delta allows it as well.
