Waterproof Backpack

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and am looking for some advice.

I recently went on a duck/goose trip near Edna and got rained out one afternoon and everything I had in the blind got soaked, including my plain-old hunting backpack. Since I never want to deal with that again, I'm looking for a waterproof hunting backpack. My guide had a Banded Arc Welded backpack that looks like it would do the trick, but I'd like something with some interior dividers and maybe an exterior pocket or two.

Anyone's recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Saw this in a magazine the other day and thought it was a pretty cool bag. Lots of pockets, waterproof and floats.

Thanks for the recommendation but I'm actually looking for a backpack-style bag. Since I tend to have to hike wherever I'm going, and I'm clumsy, a blind bag won't really do it.

Most packs are not waterproof. They can be water resistant, however. Your best bet is to take the bag you have now, and use the waterproof bags and pouches you can buy at stores like REI. They come in different colors and sizes to organize your gear. So your pack will get wet but whats inside will stay dry in the individual pouches. Another alternative is to get a rain proof cover for your bag. Never tried this but you could spray your existing pack with snow seal or some other type of waterproof spray.

In short the best packs money can buy are not water proof. But whats inside can be kept dry with the solutions above.

Watch camofire.com for a week. One day there will be a couple waterproof backpacks. Seen them several times lately.

Not submergible, but weatherproof.

If you need to be 100% waterproof use a $10-$20 dry bag slightly smaller than whatever backpack your using. I often drop a small dry bag with whatever gear I need to stay dry inside the decoy bag with the decoys rather than carry a separate backpack. I have two different size dry bags that are around 20 and 10 years old and still working great. One big one for use in my boat and one smaller one for use in a small backpack or carried in with the decoys.

Since I didn't need a 100% waterproof bag, after spending a few days thinking about it, and I'm planning on using it for more than just waterfowl I went with the Sitka Full Choke bag. It's pricey but has a ton of great reviews and comments, and www.blackovis.com had it for 20% off.

I will, however, look at a good dry bag (thanks Sniper John) and will probably put anything that MUST stay dry in there.
