can you reccomend layout blind

I am stating to look into a layout blind. which one do you use? is the khaki blinds better for concealment? or should I get a camo one and mud it in when I get it?

wanting to spend about $200.


has anyone got any experience with the zero gravity blinds?

Lots of different layouts out there and they all have pros/cons...

Will you be walking in with it, carrying it long distance, or transporting by boat/atv/truck right to the spot? How big a deal is comfort to you? Bare ground, winter wheat, grass/pasture land?

These are items that play a factor for me when deciding which layout blind to go with. I have several different types that I use depending on the situation.

I have the MoMarsh Invisilay for those times when hunting shallow water with low cover, such as flooded smartweed.
I have FA Eliminator Express....easy set up, lightweight, and the one i probably use the most.
I have Avery Finisher...more comfortable, a little bit of a pain to set up and heavy
I have Avery Power Hunter....hate this blind...do not recommend

Then I have used the Lucky Ducker type that is just a backboard with a sheet...this one is extremely easy to set up, very lightweight, and has worked well. Will be adding these to the arsenal.

As far as color goes....I have both, khaki and camo. I don't see a difference and don't really care. I mud my blinds heavily to get the shine off and once that is done it is hard to tell much of a difference, especially after a season of use. No matter what color blind you buy, you will need to mud it. I always mud new blinds well before season and will continue to mud them. I will also mud them a few times throughout season with mud from the area I am hunting.

I've used the Cabela's Northern Flight Mobile 1 Layout in my guide service for years. Camo patter. I dust them with flat brown or black spray paint to take the Martin Sheen of the new material. easy assembly. Not as comfortable as the more expensive choices out there but great low-profile and durability. And with hunts usually over in an hour or so, hell, I'd willing lay on rocks to shoot ducks at close range. Still have a few that are 7-8 years old and have been used every weekend of the season. I caught them on sale for $99 and got 10 of em. Right now they run $169 or so. keep an eye on them cuz they do go on sale. Hope that helps.

Riding in with the atv. Or at least pretty close.


That's basically the way I have been doing it the last few years. Laying in the mud grass rocks covering up with some camp netting with some brush. Ready for a lil more comfort.

Got them all- Avery power hunter best for weight, pops open in 5 seconds- take face cover off- grass it up. If your laying in water- get something more durable w frame

Have one made by hard core. I like it because all the joints slip together rather than use pins. The frame is pretty heavy. Definitely wouldn't recommend using it for a walk in spot but I've been happy with it.

i would look at the Avery Finisher as it breaks down to a great size to put on an ATV and is comfortable.
