Prayers for families of the three duck hunters that lost there lives!!!

This hit really close to home for us here as this happened in our back yard waters. 3 young men died doing what we all love to do. Please everyone make sure to wear life jackets when out in any kind of water. And don't be afraid to keep the boat on the trailer if it's too nasty outside! I hunted that morning and let me tell you something, the wind is nothing to play with!

Given the bodies were located so soon after the accident, I suspect all three were wearing life jackets. It was most likely hypothermia that caused their deaths, in which case life jackets provided no protection.

Some may remember a very similar incident last year that took the life of an upcoming country music singer. I seem to remember he was able to make it to shore, but still became victim to the cold.

Someone who knows one of the boys said that they had all made it to shore and died of hypothermia.

The dog was found laying next to it's owner. I was out there on Friday myself and never should have been. 30 degrees with a 25+ mph wind makes for a nasty day on the bay. It didn't make my wife feel very comfortable when I gave her my coordinates along with the numbers to Coast Guard and the local GW if she didn't hear from me by a certain time

There are times when being the one in the group who stands his ground and refuses to go that ends up saving the lives of all involved. But of course, that's not always easy for a 20 something to do.

Never hesitate to be "that guy" when the weather warrants it.

One of the boys was found under the boat so doesn't sound like he stood a chance. Life jackets do not prevent everything but being overly cautious can help especially this late in the season due to weather. Prayers for another family though sad way to start a new year.

22 year old duck hunter drowned yesterday in Comanche Oklahoma also.

When I saw that posted update that the bodies were found, my stomach dropped. So young...was probably just another day of hunting, and then the unexpected. just crazy. Prayers to the families.

Ouch!! Sad to hear that. Prayers sent! Also prayers sent for the familys. That's some hard news.

Another tragedy, sorry to hear about this. Were they wearing life jackets?

I saw on FB where maybe it was on the victims sisters - said she was told by the Coast Guard that they were all found with life jackets and waders on. Hypothermia is what got them.
