Weatherby SA-08

Bought a 20 and 12 on sale paid $850.00 total for both. No issues with either one. Have not shot my SBE in 5 years!

Stoeger M3500 for $600 in black and $700 in camo. Inertia system and three or four chokes come with them. I've been very pleased.

Did they have a buy one, get one free special? I'm seeing that they are $850 apiece.

Edit: Nevermind! Cabela's has them in sale in synthetic stock for $430. Seems like a screaming deal.

Beretta A300. Also have a moss 930 I picked up 7 years ago for 250, still runs like a champ.

how do you like it?
since I bought the 835 when it first came out, I've been intriqued by the 935...
don't goose shoot much anymore, tho.

I agree with the Stoeger, everyone I know that has one likes it. Plus they are a Benelli product. I had a Mossberg 935 several years ago when you could get it for about $550-600. That gun was awesome, it was in my younger years when I still duck hunted public land and it got abused but still functioned flawlessly for a long time. After about 8-10 years of being thrown in the bottom of a leaking canoe and lord knows what else it started to malfunction, turned out to be the rod/spring in the stock were rusted.

If you are on a budget like me, I just bought a 12 ga Tristar viper g2 with camo for $475. It has synthetic stock, comes with 3 benelli chokes and is gas operated. The only reviews I found were positive so I went ahead and took a chance. I have only run about 10 shells through it so far but it has handled great. Check back with me at the end of the season and I will let you know how it handled.

I've never seen that offered, but it sounds cool. What was the price, if you don't mind me asking?

Beretta A 300 is by far the best value on the market.

I picked up a chiappa 12 camo toward end of last season. Same bolt design as Beretta. I really like it. Shoulders well, smooth action, came with three chokes, fairly light, doesn't kick bad with inertia driven bolt, and was cheap. I got it at academy...can't remember exact price but it was 100_200 less than the Beretta

I'm in the market and trying to decide between the Stoeger M3500 and Beretta A300. Prices around holidays make them pretty similar. Have heard/read great things about both in my research. Coin toss? Any input appreciated...

Another vote for the Stoeger M3500. I've had it for 3 full seasons now and working on my fourth. Never had any issues other than it didn't like cycling some really light dove loads which is not really what I got the gun for...

I love it. Wish I had gone with the waterfowl version. Nobody had that in stock when I got mine, or I would've...

The only cycling issues I've had are similar to yours and there weren't many times it happened. I wish I had bought the camo version, but couldn't justify it at the time.

I have the Beretta A300 and love it. Bought it last year and have used it on ducks, quail and dove. No issues, fun to shoot and love the synthetic camo pattern. Definitely recommend it.

Re: Cuz its slow - let's talk which semi-automatic shotgun for under $1000 - 12/02/16 01:53 AM

I think the choices are clear:

Winchester SX3
Beretta A300
Weatherby SA-08

I have to choose Winchester because it uses the same technology as the Browning Maxus. Only you can get an extension tube for goose hunting. Didn't think about that when I bought my Browning, but I wouldn't give that shutgun up for anything.

Beretta, like the Maxus, can't use an extension tube. Only draw back, but its a solid shotgun for the money.

I know several people that own the Weatherby and they have been pleased. It is made in Turkey, but Weatherby clearly has the QC in place that you can get a solid shotgun for the price.

I didn't list Mossberg 930 or 935 because I don't like the balance of that shotgun.

My wife won a Remington Baikal SPR153 several years at a Coleman County Dove Banquet. This has turned out to be my favorite shotgun. We also have a Mossberg 835 and a Remington 1187. The Spartan is my choice most hunts for lightweight and reliability.

Now that we have Mr. Trump as our next President. Hopefully getting parts becomes easier. I want to order a new stock for mine.

I've got a Browning B-80 with a 26 inch barrel with screw in chokes and an extra 30 inch full choke barrel. Both with vented ribs. Best, most reliable shotgun I've ever owned and shot. It won't shoot 3 inch though.
