Cabelas breathable waders......

Cabelas breathable waders...... - 11/24/16 03:46 PM

Suck. 3 pairs in 3 years. They leak and come apart at seams. Not convinced on breathable technology. Their hip waders are fine. I've had some redhead neoprenes for over 20 years patch them a time or two and are awesome

Anyone find breathables that last? Maybe durability not possible with this material I may go with the Drake insulated or the banded

Suggestions appreciated

I think the big problem is that they don't stretch so you can put a lot of stress on the seams. I bought the extra stouts... and yes they look like clown pants... but I haven't had a seam leak yet. I did poke a hole just above the boot towards the end of last season. Aquaseal worked great on that.

My problem is I'm a little tall so the legs are really long enough. Trying to get out of a layout blind makes me feel and look like a drunk turtle cuz I can't bend enough to get my legs under me. I have to roll out onto my knees before I can get up.

Take all 3 back and tell them, they will work you, they might just refund them all. I have had pretty good luck with them. I agree with LC they need to be lose and baggy. I also have the jean waders and love them for walkin hunts.

Dang that sucks. I wonder if their quality has changed? Or if it's due to not properly drying them out. I'm on my fith season with my cabelas breathables and not a leak one. I love them.

Are you taking care of them? Drying them out after hunts? Store them inside during the off season? Moisture inside them will destroy them if you don't hang them out. I rinse mine and hang them after every hunt and they are in great shape. Before storing them for long periods I make sure they are completely dry and then store them in a closet. Heat will destroy them too.

I'm sold on breathables. I can't stand neoprene.

Man I can't imagine hunting without neoprenes. But I ride in a boat and and almost always in the water while hunting. I guess if I was in a blind on the bank it would be different. Neoprenes keep me cozy as a tick on a dog by a fireplace!

In the boat I always go neoprene, namely because it is safer. I got 5mm for the boat, those will keep you afloat if boat goes down.

Yea, I keep swapping the darn things. I will try stout.

Yea, I hang them after each hunt. They shouldn't leak as easily.

I've got a pair that had lasted 4 years... I'm hard on all of my hunting equipment too. It's mixed emotions when it comes to those waders. Some people have good luck and others have problems on the 3rd trip.

Well I hunt mostly from a canoe or kayak, and am almost always in the water as well. I just don't like how bulky and cumbersome they are. I wear a pair of mid weight fleece underwear and then a pair of expedition weight fleece pants and I never feel the cold at all. In fact sometimes I get too warm.

Breathable stocking foot with Korkers boots. More sizing options and layer underneath for warmth. Walking in is not a butt swampy mess either.

Had the same problem last season, leaky seams. As I was returning them another guy was in Cabelas returning the same pair of waders. We had both just come from hunting and had wet shorts. The employee said they get tons of returns on them, all leaky. Kind of weird how they haven't addressed it it seems.

Exactly what I have. I wear Patagonia waders to both fly fish and hunt and run into none of the quality issues I hear about the available camo breathables.

Returned this am. They said tons of returns on them. Seam issue. The instinct line is supposedly better. I have a set of boot waders and love them. Went with plain vanilla 3.5 or 5mm s in tall. Unless it's 60+ degrees they should work fine.

Otherwise- I will go w other brand. They didn't even budge @ return. No receipt either

I ordered a pair online and the boots don't fit well, think I am between a 12 and 13 and they were real baggy. The last pair I had were Hodgman and they lasted quite a while but Hodgman doesn't make hunting waders anymore. Think I will try Rogers next.

I switched to Banded breathable waders this year. By far the most comfortable waders I have ever worn. Others at the camp have been using theirs for three years now with no problems.
