Young County Cranes - 11/20/16 07:37 AM
Shot three opening morning and one more the next. One nearly landed at my feet and was too close to shoot. I think I finally have enough decoys to matter. The birds shot are ones that came in to the decoys. Any Cranes passing during the stronger winds would have nothing to do with the decoys. My old Bigfoot sentries start disco dancing in anything over 10mph, so I think I will start pulling those when there is any wind greater. I have noticed a big difference since I added some full bodies to the spread too. One thing that is nice about hunting this way? Cranes are loud enough that I get to take long naps in the layout blind between birds. Wheat is looking good on our field and several fields in the area. And a lot of birds have not arrived yet. Should be decent Crane hunting the full season.
