Shock Collar question

Shock Collar question - 11/14/16 03:38 PM

Is there a shock collar that is better than any other for training a lab for waterfowl. I am looking for one if anyone has one that is not being used.

Ive had good luck with sport dog. Lots of good options out there though - garmin, dogtra, etc.

I have two sport dogs, one 3 years old now and the other 2...both used on a daily basis (we live in the country - no "dog fences" - when dogs are outside with us they have their collars on, otherwise live in the house when we aren't there) plus both are used for duck hunting. Zero problems and zero complaints...both have worked great.

It seems sport dog is the brand to go with?

They are in a good price range for most people, have most features people are looking for without paying a fortune and last long/work like they're designed. There are other brands, but SD is probably most popular.

Negative....

Here are your three to go with

Dogtra Edge RT
Garmin Pro 550
Dogtra 1900s

The sport dog brand is a lower end collar. That doesn't mean it won't do the job for some but if you are looking for a nice collar that will give you the most consistent and timely stim as well as stand up over time...go with one of the three I listed.

I used a sport dog for both my dogs and they did just fine. Cheap and reliable.

I have a SportDog 825. used for one walk around the block. No need for it anymore. Great, easy to use !

X2. Heard about many issues with SportDog. Some work fine, others have major issues. Also, I would strongly recommend learning how and why to use a electric collar. It is often used incorrectly.
