Polaris Ranger and duck hunting

Polaris Ranger and duck hunting - 08/11/16 12:54 PM

Does anyone else have constant problems with their Ranger when using it for duck hunting? We rinse the vehicles off after every hunt but it seems like we are constantly going through bearings and having suspension issues. Does anyone else experience this?

I have had my 1999 6 wheel Polaris for 4 years now. One bearing, carb cleaning and breaks locked up. Other than that, no prob.

How often do you grease all the points?

Do you just wash it off or do you use heat and soap?

Do you let it sit after the wash or are you driving it to help clean things out?

its tough on any wheel bearings when soaked in muddy water constantly. Im not 100% on what kind is in the ranger now but greasable bearing would be ideal... if they even make them.

But they do make better quality sealed bearings either way. Also greaseable ball joints will save a lot of trouble also... when your able to grease a bearing or joint you can push out contaminants

Amen to that, if your driving in wet/muddy conditions and then grease a bearing you will be amazed at how much water and dirt the grease pushes out.

we had to replace the bearings on a company ranger after one season, but it spent a lot of time in salt water up

We normally just rinse them off with freshwater and then maybe drive them a little more. We installed a grease-able carrier bearing where the front drive shaft leaves the transfer case. It was off a bush hog. It will be service after teal season most likely and we will see about having all the joints switched out to grease-able.

My 2011 has yet to have anything more than regular maintenance. 5+ years in and performs like the day I bought it.
