Stoegar 3500

Stoegar 3500 - 03/18/16 02:30 AM

I want to get a new gun before next duck season and have been looking at the stoegar 3500 automatic and looking for reviews. I'm currently shooting a remington 1187 and it was my papas gun before he quit duck hunting and I'd like to set it aside before it gets scratched and beat up anymore. So any reviews would be helpful!

I hunt with a stoeger M3500 and never had an issue with it and I have put it through a lot of abuse. Great gun for the price, poor mans Beneli

Never had an issue with my 3500.... Flock is right, poor man's Benelli. Great internals.

Look for a good used benelli or Beretta depending on your price range.

Exactly. Saved nearly two thirds of the cost of a Beneli and I'm happy I did. It's not a Beneli, but it shoots when I pull the trigger, comes with chokes, and I don't care about taking it out in the slop or it getting dinged up. I say go for it.

Definitely liking the replies about it!

I think you should shoot one. Where are you located? I'm near Alpine shooting range near Fort Worth if you want to meet up and put some shells through it.

how much are you going to spend? I never really pay attention to stoeger prices, but id lean more towards finding a used beretta 391 if I was having to get a quality gun with limited funds

Don't have a 3500 but I do have the 3000 and it shoots as good as a Benelli, for a LOT less money.

they work fine until they don't work anymore, and sometimes that happens pretty quick. Crap shoot as to whether you get a one that will last.

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 03/29/16 07:05 PM

those 3500's and 870's have a lot in common when it comes to that crap shoot

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 03/29/16 07:35 PM

hayraker has said it best. for the same money you can get a good used beretta or browning, I would look into that. Not a worse feeling than putting the money together to get something, and getting disappointed because of its poor quality. i'm all about the great value brand and wal mart shopping with certain things like groceries and clothes. but with things like equipment, work boots, and hunting gear....don't cut corners.

I'm with Hayraker on this one. One of my friends has one, though I think it is the 3000. Early problems I saw he claimed were due to it needing to be broke in. I still have seen it jam up or stovepipe from time to time on hunts.

I vote #hayraker for a moderators job

No experience with the 3500, but I've seen several 3000's that work quite well.

With anything there are going to be lemons so it may be a fluke. My personal experience is only based on one, but based on that one I personally would never buy one for myself. I think he may have been offered to send it back to the factory to be checked out, but I do not know if he ever did or not.

I've never had one. My experience is only what I have seen in 3 gun, so it's not worth much.

No need to drag the venerable 870 into this conversation

The OP was about crappy semi's

I shoot the m3000 and love it, seems like the only difference is the 3.5"capability

Those are awesome if you are lucky enough to find one at a reasonable price.

When I was doing my research, I saw that the 3000s had some issues (although the several people here have said their 3000s are working fine. I also read that the 3500s were much more reliable and I've had no issues. I think Stoeger figured it out between the two models.

Also, Benelli either bought Stoeger or licensed the inertia system after Stoeger copied it, I believe, which allows Benelli to do a little quality control.

FWIW- you can get a Beretta A300 in camo for $700-800. Great gun with no issues for a little more money. Buy once, cry once.

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 04/03/16 01:54 PM

I recently went through all this research of which semi to get. In the end I ended up with camo A300. It's been a great gun so far. FYI, Cabelas has the A300s on sale right now!

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 04/03/16 03:35 PM

I just bid on an A-300 camo on Gun Broker $690. The difference is the 3500 has a 3 1/2" chamber the A-300 3"

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 04/03/16 04:20 PM

I believe they are $750 max5 camo at Cabelas. Online doesn't show sale price but they have a ad out that says $50 off. Regarding the 3.5" the only reason you need that is if you are shooting at high flying geese.

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 04/03/16 11:25 PM

From past experience I wouldn't have a gun with Stoeger's name on it.

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 04/05/16 05:05 AM

I'v got one, picked it up before last Dove season. Actually bought it opening day on my way to the field. Cleaned it on my tailgate, lubed it up and ran it with all kinds of ammo - 2 3/4 all the way up to 3 1/2" (those would wake you up when not expecting it). I had a few jams early on but since that first day which I think between me and two other guys we put close to 500 shells through it it's been perfect. Only dove and pheasant last season but it was flawless. Very happy with the gun.

Just as good as a benelli in my opinion. Great gun with no problems. Cycles easy.

Re: Stoegar 3500 - 04/06/16 01:49 AM

I don't really see the need for a 3.5" chamber unless you're chasing geese mainly. A buddy of mine had to have a 3.5" gun and hardly ever shoots 3.5" shells. If it's mainly for dove and duck id buy a gas gun with 3" chamber, easier on the shoulder. Jmo.

I bought a Beretta Outlander I've been happy with thus far. Easy on shoulder and the wallet.
