Agreed! I store my breathable waders in a plastic tub in my closet loosely packed. I'm on the 5th year of storing them that way and they are just fine! they don't hold permanent creases.
Clean, dry, hang by boots in a shaded, dry environment. Folding then will be a source for break down of the rubber over the next 8 months and you'll likely not know about it until you're waist deep with a wet pants leg or sock. Hunt ruined!
I wash, dry, stuff a rolled up towel in each boot, fold and then store separately in plastic totes in the closet, have been on one pair breathables for 8yrs and a neoprene pair since 2009, no leaks in either pair and no issues.
wash...already done today after last day's hunts, hang to dry for a few days. Wipe Vaseline on the rubber boots only....drape large plastic trash bag over them....hang by boots under my "quack shack" outside storage shed where no sun touches them. Plastic bag is for added uv protection sense I don't store them inside.
I put mine back in the box after every hunt, but I keep them as backups for the next season as I always start with new. Maybe I'm hard on them, but I've never gotten two years out of any waders in 28 years, not even the old fireman hip boots I wore as a kid.... Sure don't miss those days!
