Waterproof LED light bars

Waterproof LED light bars - 01/29/16 04:09 PM

Doing research for what I'll be putting on the boat next year, and I'm having trouble deciding on a light bar. I don't want top-of-the-line, but I don't want junk either. Most importantly, I want something waterproof (obviously). Any tips on what yall have been running? Brands to stay away from?

I put Ridgid cubes on the front of my boat. They've given me zero problem. I bought some cheap CREE cubes off Amazon for reverse lights on my truck. I've had them on my truck for over two years. They are mounted to the rear of the leaf springs, so they get a ton of water spray from the tires when it's raining. They have held up fine. I think as long as you have them mounted in a housing and they don't get submerged in water you'll be fine with any of them. I'd just read the feedback on Amazon and go with one that has a high rating.

I bought a cheap 54 inch bar off of ebay. It leaked as I could see moisture inside the glass. I sent a email to the company and they sent me a whole now light and told me to trash the leaking one. Well it is still working so I intend to mount one to the pontoon boat duck blind.

I have ran cheap Ebay 7" inch LED light bars, spots, Cree bulbs for 3 years on my boat and they have been through a lot an have held up well. I have a removeable bar but it pretty much stays on may boat for 3 months during season getting rained on and they have not taken on any moisture at all.

I would not waste any money on the high dollar ones, they are all made in China and are pretty good buy for the money. Think I paid about $30 a piece for them and have ran into several trees, branches, and vines and have bent the lights back but never have broke one.

I'd go with an amazon item. Crazy cheap options. That is where I got a variety of my led lights from. If you want to beef it up, put some silicone around where the lens meet the housing.
