Kansas day two update*

Kansas day two update* - 01/24/16 01:30 AM

Well, all the birds are still up here, even with everything froze up. The refuge portion of the wildlife area I hunted today is absolutely stacked with thousands of mallards, it's insane, it's amazing how many birds can fit into little openings of water. I came up alone since everyone bailed on me at the last minute, so I was a little nervous about exploring too much with all the ice everywhere. I found one open hole in the ice with a few birds on it. So that's where I set up this afternoon. Wasn't much of a flight after I got set up, they all seemed to be flying when I was driving around scouting. Hopefully I can kill a few in the morning before I have to head back. I managed 1 this evening. Should have had a couple more but the ones I did see didn't want to cooperate.

I just got back from Nebraska (not hunting) and didn't get to drive around a lot but mostly saw frozen ponds and the open water I did see had mallards and geese on them. The big geese, not the cacklers. Fun watching them, did drive by a few fields with a couple thousand geese in them too.

Public is abundant up there, and holds tons of mallards. Good work Eric, glad you had successful trips up there this year up

Yes sir all public, and all walk in as well. This last hunt I was about 50 yards from where I parked the truck. If you devote a day or two to exploring and scouting, you will do well. Kansas is awesome.
