Thanks Huck18...it is from Dovewood kennels in South Carolina. This pup is supposed to be my dove and duck hunting companion. I hope he will keep me from having to walk out in water over my waders to pick up birds next season!
Good breeder, so you're starting with a healthy quality pup for sure. They are great little retrievers for their size and your dog should have no problem getting the birds off the water for you. For trainers in the DFW area their are two that I have used and they both have some experience with Boykins. I would visit/meet both of them and go with which ever you think suits you the best, they are both good trainers and each has their own + and -.
In the mean time you should encourage your dogs natural prey drive/retrieving desire and socialize the dog every chance you get. I would get Bill Hillmans puppy video to start the training process right now. Boykins are incredibly smart. They can get collar wise more so than other breeds so keep that in mind. They are people dogs and very trainable but because they are so smart they can test you at times in different ways.
