Nice. I've killed and seen i don't know how many thousands of birds in my 18 years gunning. Only 1 band to date.

Thanks. She was banded in 2003 and hatched in 2002 or earlier. 2,354 miles almost due north from where i got her. If anyone is good at determining cackler vs lesser let me know, I'm having a hard time telling.

The band certificate should say what species the bander thought it was.

If you shot it in Texas it is not a cackler. It should be listed as a "small Canada goose" on the band certificate as there are several sub species of lessers.

And congrats on the band. Not many of those get banded. I guided in Lubbock for 4 years and we probably killed 1000-1200 a year and never saw a banded one.
