Drove out to the wetland to see what it looked like with all the rain. The water came up about 75 yards from yesterday's waterline. It's about 10 yards from reaching the oak trees, which it will easily reach if it rains tonight and tomorrow. When I drove up about 200 birds picked up off the water. I parked the truck and grabbed my camera to take some pictures, even after the big flock took off, there was still 2-300 birds on the water, still mostly wigeon, but there was also some Pintail, teal spoonies and gadwall mixed in. If the water reaches the trees we will have great cover for a while, during teal season the water was 50-60 yards from the trees. Birds were coming in and landing on the water the entire time I was there. Today really got me excited for the season to start. When my photo bucket decides to start working again I'll post up some pictures. It's been uploading for 2 hours now.
