Duck boat camouflage question

Duck boat camouflage question - 09/28/15 03:39 AM

Just acquired a small aluminum jon boat (about 12'). I am going to camouflage it. I am thinking of painting it like the shadow grass (#6) or the fall flight (#3)

The question is... what do yall recommend for the inside of the boat? Black, camo, brown?

I'd camo the inside as well.

just a darker neutral color like taupe tan or grey will work. If you plan on fishing out of it its hell finding that hook you dropped on the floor!

Parker duck boat paint. Krylon some lines on it.

Throw sand in floor before painting inside. Done for 10 or so years. Repeat

I painted this one last year with spray paint.

Here's mine from start to finish. Only took a couple hrs. The good thing about this paint job is when it gets scratched (happens a lot) it's super easy to fix. When it's time to replace the carpet I might go with a darker gray.

Before and after on my old boat. I had blue boogers for a week after sanding it down

OK, It ended up looking NOTHING like any of the Mossy Oak patterns (not even close), but I think that it will work.

Before: (Kinda) After I primered the boat.

I did the floor first in black, then put khaki lines and then sprayed the entire floor with forest green camo paint.

Then I added leaves.

That'll work.

Sort of looks like muddy dog prints in the bottom.

Thanks... Now that you mention it... yeah those leaves do look like a muddy dog has strolled around in it.

Thanks, I wish I still had that boat.

I'm thinking you should build a giant wooded frame on top of your boat and cover the entire thing in metal! Ducks will never know what hit em!!! Thank me later cheers

It's only a 10' boat. I don't think it could handle a frame on top with camo and MY weight also. It's primarily for duck recovery if they fall in the pond in the crook of the creek. I might try to sit in it and shoot a few, but I think I will probably shoot from the bank most of the time. Maybe I can build a Ducktoon, Jr. later.

You think a blind on top of this 1965 lonestar would not be too conspicuous? Rails sit up a good 40 inches above the water. Just a thought for later....enjoy my layouts, but one never knows.

Kinda hard to mess up boat camo, unless you want it to look pretty like foosh's boat.
