Yes. Going to be a busy year. Now answer the question.

Re: Teal - 05/25/15 08:38 PM

All I could find about the proposed dates was an article from the Houston paper

I don't think the migratory bird seasons are set in stone till Sept.1. I have noticed that the Feds. usually go with the states proposed dates

Close.

The feds set a range of dates and a range of bag limits (conservative, moderate, or liberal) that flyways/states can hold their hunting seasons. It is up to the states biologists to choose the best dates for that particular state based on harvest potential, hunter satisfaction, and conservation. The states then propose those dates/ harvest back to the feds.

Most of the time if it is within the feds proposed date range- then its all good.

September 12th through September 27th. If I were a betting man. Make sure to get your teal tags early this year. grin

It depends on whether you paid the extra cost for the exemption. It'll say on each tag.

That sucks. I'll be elk hunting around that time. Anybody want to borrow my teal tags?

Re: Teal - 05/28/15 03:37 AM

I paid extra last year and got the 2 year tags. Better deal you just have to ask for them. They only have so many and they like to keep them for themselves.

Did you know there is going to be a limit number of GWT tags this year do to the drought issue in their breeding areas?

Sorry but this is not true. A federal warden told me that there would be at least the same number of GWT tags issued as last year, maybe more.

I got my BWT tags but was not sure how many GWT tags to get this year. I only harvested a few GWT last teal season.

How many GWT tags to you guys normally get verses your BWT tags?
Posted By: Windrider

Re: Teal - 06/06/15 10:42 PM

I keep an inventory of 4 BWT tags for every one GWT tag.

I long for the good ole days where you just had to have a teal tag.

Imagine the problems you got on the south coast now. I bet them Cinnamon Teal tags are hard to find and that's mighty inconvenient.

I wish you guys would cut out all of this misguided advise about teal tags. Everybody knows the only place you get teal tags is from the local game warden and all you have to do is ask for them. SHEEESH!!!

No that's hayraker, looks like he's about to crack the whip and throw everyone in ban camp. You should just be happy this thread is getting bumped spreading good info on teal tags, otherwise this thread would have been dead last month. up flag

Yep, most people don't know, but you can ask a GW for teal tags, and they can hand wright you some, they just have to sign it.

True story, had a friend on duck lease, new to Texas from Louisiana, he read this forum and drove around looking for teal tags. He told me no one knew about teals, he couldn't find any. I should have told him to try the GW next. rofl
