Lets see your duck boats

Lets see your duck boats - 02/08/15 07:34 PM

I have been shopping for a duck boat for a couple weeks. I duck hunt the shallow flats around Corpus and also Lake Corpus Christi/ Choke Canyon. During the summer I fish the Nueces and run the lakes for catfish. I currently have a 17ft jon with a 27hp MB LT. Gets the job done and will take me nearly anywhere I want to go but its SLOW. Looking for something a little more comfortable with a SD.

Thanks guys

I have a gator trax being built almost exactly like this one but a foot longer

will be a good duck boat for open bays/lakes plus it will run really shallow

I think you made an extremely wise choice. It won't do everything. No boat can do it all. That boat you are getting will do a whole lot more in the long run than any mud rig could ever do.

I really feel I found the best all around package

Will be a fun fishing rig plus a killer cast & blast boat in the fall

I got to move around in one like this at their shop. It was aight. Not a lot of "floor space" though.

Re: Lets see your duck boats - 02/10/15 03:57 AM

I went and got in a 18'x60" model CC at bass pro and it was fine.

Mine isn't gonna have the catwalks on the side so it will have more floor space

Re: Lets see your duck boats - 02/10/15 09:09 PM

You wanna trade? I want one that is bigger. Let me be cleear here, a bigger boat. I either have to drop some tonage, give it to my wife or trade for a bigger one. The best option would be a combination of all three.

Lol. I might. There are times I wish I had the smaller style. I think about it.

The first pic is our new Havoc and the second is our old Gator Trax. We kept the 35 Mudbuddy off the old boat. Lots of good memories out of that gator trax!

Did they try and land in the boat?
Posted By: hunt91

No, they tried to land in the bushes. Luckily we killed every one of them before they could!

The shift linkage is broken so.. it's permanently in drive till probably this summer when I'll have time to work on it! 15.5 ft. MonArk with 25 hp mariner. Restoration project with rattle can paint job and a little redneck ingenuity.

Re: Lets see your duck boats - 02/13/15 07:24 PM

If ya'll were going to buy an aluminum boat, but didn't want to spend the money on a gator trax, what brand would you go with? I'm selling my bass boat and wanting to get an aluminum and looking at the grizzly tracker and alumicrafts. I want a 17-18ft CC and I'm going to have someone install a jackplate and run a 4 stroke yamaha. Also want to be able to fish in the summer time.

I looked at the grizzly tracker and those things are like beer cans.

Is that a DIY cart or store bought?

If I were to guess (and knowing your propensity to build stuff:), I'd guess it was one of your projects.

There is a center console Grizzly that I see come up my street a couple of times recently. It's a good looking boat but looks only get you so far.

Most of the cheaper boats are made of the thinner .100.

He could also look at Prodigy, Willet or one of the other million custom builders.

I like the fact you and your boys are just wearing life jackets. It is a great policy, one I am trying to get myself used to. I reckon it would be easier if I had young boys along.
