Obregon 2015 - 02/08/15 02:49 AM

This is my fifth and best trip to obregon , MX with wing shooters lodge. I have developed a great relationship
With Reuben over the years and he lets us Taylor our trips to our desires.

First morning we loaded up and hit the canals in search of cinnamons for a couple guys that wanted some primo birds.

5 minutes in and mission accomplished for one of the guys.

Added some Mexican mallards

And bbwd

The first afternoon we loaded all of our brant y-boards and set out a spread.

Took turns shooting and had a great time.

All 8 shooters got a banded bird.

Wrapped up with a beer and sunset.

Followed by killer authentic Mexican food.

Day 2 we hit the dove fields in the am.

30 minutes in and the first case was empty with two smoking barrels.

5 of us shot 2000 dove in 3 hours. I quit at 500 birds with 540 shots.

Started playing around with videoing with my left and shooting with the right. Got this cool frame shot.

Quick one handed triple video

Day three we were back on the canals after scaup, whistlers , and mallards.

There were thousands of lesers on the canal.

That afternoon we were back to the bay to set up the brant armada. We built a 6 man blind and took turns shooting.

One flock I took one shot and dropped one brant.
Banded 20 yrs ago as an adult. This bird was 22+ years old.

Surprisingly high number of double banded birds this year.

Glad y'all had a good time! As much as we loved our free trip to Kauai, I would have rather been with you guys!

I did at least get to see some double-banded geese myself, the endangered Nene.

Looks like a heck of a hunt.

I'm curious how the cost of the lodge compares with H&H in Córdoba. It's a heck of a lot closer, with ducks smile

Brazos, if you don't mind sharing, what was the cost of the lodge (accommodations, shells per case, incidentals, minus airfare and the duration of your trip? (If you don't care to post it you can pm:)

I've hunted Mexico and would welcome an opportunity to try something different, if you don't mind someone tagging along some time give me a shout.

Day 4 to wrap up.
Morning bay hunt was slow. Wednesday we sat thousands of ducks but with the big moon and south wind , a lot left. The group still managed about 100 ducks.

We wrapped up the trip back on the canals.
Extension tubes are extremely detrimental to the population of ducks in Mexico. Top volley-25 birds on the water.

Great mix of scaup, mallards, and whistlers.

Our bird guys worked their butts off.

At 92 degrees the bird boys got a laugh when I bailed into the Yaqui river and helped retrieve.

Few more random pics.
Lotta dove in a 10' circle around the mojo.

Set up for the police to screw with one of the guys.

Mexican mallard with some park duck in the wood stack.

Lush green wheat of the Yaqui valley.

Big pacific brant.

And fur in the air....

For those that have asked, the hunt runs a$3750 for 4 days. Including licenses and tips. Average shell bill if $500(14.75/box) our group shot 7500 shells for 8 people in 4 days but a couple of us didn't hold back.

Airfare is $800-$1100.

Total around $5500. You will not find a more accommodating outfitter, better service, or shooting this close to the US. My week for next year looks to be full but I'm working on getting another week or two. Ideal group is 8 guys.

PM inbound.

From the looks of your pics, the number of dove Is on par with the dove hunts we've had at the Guayascate Lodge. That is a heck of a deal with less time in the air plus ducks.

If you book another week and need a body to fill a spot I'm in.
