List of North American Waterfowl? - 01/04/15 10:12 PM

Can anybody point me in the direction of an accurate list of North American waterfowl? I think there are 52 but I can find a list to reflect that number. I have a lifelong goal of mounting one drake of every species and I would like a good list.

This website can help:

Or try this one for more of a "list." (Click Anseriformes drop down):

That is a great goal. Good luck.

I thought the official number was 52 waterfowl. I keep coming up with 49.

I guess coots and sandhill cranes count. That's 51. I guess the smew duck makes 52.

The common eider has both Atlantic and Pacific subspecies; difference is Pacific has a black V on its neck.
