New shotguns are always fun. What's the DOS stand for? There are lots of great shotguns out there but the SBE just works well for me.

You mean you can't turn a tight choke into a full one?

Re: My new girlfriend - 12/19/14 02:56 PM

Ok...so do you always spell DOS with capital letters? That threw me off....also I knew they had the performance shop models now so I was thinking this must me a another iteration. I should of know Hipster Wayne likes to use Spanish for certain words to look hip. He was probably wearing skinny jeans when he typed it.

Re: My new girlfriend - 12/19/14 03:10 PM

I have to admit, the SBE is probably a better shotgun than the Maxus... and I think I actually shoot better with the Benelli. bolt

Re: My new girlfriend - 12/19/14 03:20 PM

The Maxus seems pretty nice too but the propensity for issues just seems a little higher. The SBE II is a simple gun and it seems to work really well. I've had times where I went way too long without cleaning mine and it would start to act up so while no shotgun is flawless the SBE seems to need less maintenance and care than many other shotguns. Still it's not the best shotgun for everyone but for those who like the fit and feel it's a great choice.

Re: My new girlfriend - 12/19/14 03:24 PM

Issues like tiny chunks of raffia grass that get stuck down inside the action? Yeah, that trips my Maxus up every time. I would imagine that the SBE2 would have the same issue

I recently picked up a Brownjng Cynergy in max-5. Needless to say, haven't touched my maxus or SBE-2 since that day.

I've never had that issue. I guess sometimes you have to just know when it's user error or the gun. ;-)

Dude that maxus is a boat paddle. Go start a topic about dollar general guns somewhere else.

Re: My new girlfriend - 12/22/14 01:50 PM

I didn't have the time nor opportunity to pattern the weapon before I went up to Redlegs this last weekend. I can't wait to see what the paper will say. I think the LM choke on it is throwing a tight pattern. When I was on it was "Head folded backwards falling dead" type of on. My partner on the trip clipped a gadwall on his thrird round. At about 45 yards I played clean up for him and when the pattern hit that bird it was an instant stopper, like a stone falling out of the sky. I just grinned and looked away as he toldme to GFM. I couldn't help but laugh at that point. My buddy did have his chance at redemption though. A lone mallard dropping down through the trees and I was swinging the barrel straight down with the bird. I got to his feet and continued to drop the nose as I was squeezing off the shot. The bird fluttered up as I fired and I just clipped him. I only had one shell in the gun. Dern it dern it dern it all the Hockley.

Do you want to sell your SBE?

Re: My new girlfriend - 12/22/14 04:31 PM

The Maxus is a terrible shotgun. Anyone that has one should get rid of it before the problems start. Guaranteed, you're not bagging your limit because of that gun. Since I'm such a team player, I'll save you the sham of being seen with one of those trash heaps and take it off your hands. I'm willing to offer an entire case of face-paint, a dozen storm fronts, a Duck Commander hoody, and a Benelli barrel sticker. For the right gun I'll throw in 2 boxes of 3.5" Hevi-Shot T shot and a Jeff Foiles DVD.

I will say thumbs up to him. Broke the gun down and fixed the issue while in the blind, and shot his limit.

He also got one heck of a widgeon that is going to be a nice mount.
