My first Can!

Yesterday I scouted a pond that I hadn't scouted or hunted before. It's about 90x70 yards across and was holding 20 cans, 20 mallards and about 50 gaddies and wigeon.

I went to bed with dreams of a greanhead limit with a canvasback kicker.

At about 7:10 I had only seen one duck and was getting worried when they started to pour in. For some reason the stinkin mallards didn't show.

Limited with a nice mixed bag of wigeon, gadwall, teal and my first canvasback.

Mallards are nice, but for me I would take those Wigeon any day!

I love the Wigeon also. We do not get very many mallards so when I think I have a chance to get a few I want to take advantage of it. I hung around till about 10 and some more Cans, Wigeon and Gadwall came in.

I really have had some nice hunts here lately. This place is a really cool spot and it cost me a whole case of Coors light! I'll probably get the land owner something at the end of the season though.

Mallards always like to be "fashionably" late. Have to wait till 0830 or later for them many days.

I have three ducks in the freezer right now that are in the running. At the end of the season I'm going to pick one. I'm not sure how plumed my can is. Yours seems to be a little more white but mine is bloody and dirty.

I love cans.......
