Beretta a400 Extreme?

Beretta a400 Extreme? - 11/25/14 01:05 AM

Any of you guys shoot this gun for waterfowl? I have had an extrema for about 12 years and it has been a great gun. Currently having to get it worked on and thinking about adding the a400 extreme for duckhunting. Any positive or negative experiences you guys have had? Have shot my buddies Benelli M2 and super black eagle and both are awesome guns but I can't get excited about how much they kick compared to my extrema.

I've been using one for the past two seasons and love it! It is a great shooter and can handle anything you put thru it. The only negative I have on it is that it's heavy (~8lbs)...the weight and the Kickoff help to make it a soft shooter, though. It swings very nicely and is a quality gun.

Buy a browning or a benelli and forget about the beretta bullcrap.

Just kidding about the beretta. I'm sure it would make a great gun for you.

Great gun, love mine. Have had mine for 2 seasons. Virtually flawless, I have had one failed ejection with many cases of target load, dove load and 3" and 3.5" duck/goose loads run through it. Clean it thoroughly from the factory and get all of the grease they ship it with out of there. I didn't do that and had a failed ejection the first time I shot it. Cleaned it up and it has been great ever since. I love mine so much I bought one for my son when he was ready to move to a 12 from a 20. He's 11 and handles the recoil well, even with 3" mags. I've let several of my lease partners shoot mine. 2 of them actually ended up buying one of their own as well. There are times when we'll have 4 of the same gun in the same blind. There are plenty of guys shooting Benellis as well, don't hear many complaints about those either.

We all run the Briley extended chokes. Great combo, I highly recommend.

Great gun. I don't own one (I shoot a 391 extrema) but a few buds have em & I've shot it a handful of times. Swings good, similar feel to your extrema & as reliable as they get

This is my second year with mine now.
I still can't believe how little felt recoil there is with this gun.
Go with the Optifade Camo for sure.

a Top tier duck gun = a top tier duck gun. Doesn't matter what brand, they're all designed by industry egghead engineers to be the very best shotguns you can get for waterfowl. I held one at the store the other day and noticed the weight difference between it and my Maxus, but I don't really think that is a negative at all. Great guns, Beretta users will tell you that.

I think you guys have helped secure bass pro or Gander Mountain gets $1650 from me over the holiday weekend. But seriously, I appreciate all the opinions

I love that pattern. I would go nuts if they would put it on the SBE II. Why only put it on the A400 and the Super Vinci?!? WHY?!?!??

Buds gun shop online has them for much cheaper with no sales tax and free shipping FYI.

Just got mine. First Berreta ever. LOVE IT!!! Reduced felt recoil is no joke.

Wish they made the opitfade in a 30" barrel but besides that, everything I could have asked for.

Looking at this gun also. Went to academy last week and they had one (only one) on sale for 430 off. The guy in front of me was buying it. I was sick.

The search continues.

Tjhook, I've been hearing really good things about the a300. When my boy is old enough to take over my 391, that's what I'll probably be getting. I have no need for 3.5" & there's no way I'm spending an extra $1000 for that & a little less recoil. Not bashing high-dollar shotguns, but I'd rather spend my duck hunting budget on gear that's gonna put more birds in front of me, ya know?

I just upgraded to the A400 from an old woreout 391 this summer. I got about 1100 rounds through it so far and really enjoy shooting it!
