Numbers are up

"The Arctic blast sweeping across Canada and the central United States will hit the East Coast by the end of the week. Significant ice and snow accumulations blanketing areas of the northern plains and Great Lakes region have ducks and geese on the move. While large numbers of waterfowl remain well to the north of Louisiana, DU Migration Alerts suggest that many birds are now on their way. "

No attack mode. Just asked why you need 3 1/2 and just pointing out fact that every time you post about ducks you see its the most ever....

Re: Migration Alert - 11/14/14 12:19 AM

Buddies in NoDak, SoDak & MN are reporting just about everything is locked up solid other than a few big lakes. One bud is really laying into the malls in NoDak right now but he's watching thousands upon thousands of ducks & geese of every kind flying high overhead in migration mode all day, every day. Shouldn't be too long til they make their way down here, especially with the steady single digit & below 0 lows every night up there.

I don't know about Beaver but I've hunted Ducks in North Texas for 40yrs and I've
seen more Mallards than I ever have this early.

Re: Migration Alert - 11/14/14 12:27 AM

The place where we've been hammering them only had a couple hundred or so. We had more than a thousand a week ago. I guess this front pushed some further south. I did see a big group of buffleheads though that I haven't seen. Only 5 mallards but we never have many mallards.

We still could bust a 2-3 man limit on it. Hopefully we see a big influx over the next day or two.

Few Canada Geese showed up on city lakes in Lubbock today. Normally over 40000 winter on them so guess there will be more coming soon.

Re: Migration Alert - 11/14/14 02:56 AM

Anyway, before bashing my friend and his dog, to go back to the initial topic:
I saw the most ducks today in my last 20 years in North Texas. I hope you have a
chance to go scouting tomorrow and see for yourself. It was a very exciting day and I cant wait till Saturday.
Have a great duck weekend. Got to go scout more tomorrow. yawn

Re: Migration Alert - 11/14/14 03:02 AM

Sorry beav I've just never seen a $250 duck hunt, I think $200 hunts are a little ridiculous even
