My hog rifles

My hog rifles - 09/12/18 07:14 PM

Went out to my range today to check out my favorite hog rifles and make sure they were still sighted in. My favorites are both AR's...one in 6.5 Grendel and one in 6.5 Creedmore. I have both of them set up with Sightmark night scopes and they have worked very well for me. Unfortunately while shooting 100 yd. paper, they just don't have the precision reticules of conventional scopes...but still do okay for themselves. This first one is the Grendel, shooting 123 Hornady factory 123 SST bullets.

Both those are shooting plenty good enough for hogs

Hey Stoney

You can make a target that stands out better to get additional refinement, just play with shapes and sizes and colors till you find one that works better

Then again your shooting looks good ‘nuff to get it done without needing to explore a better target....

That's "minute of hog," so I think you're ready! Go forth and kill piggies, please!

I'll be out in the woods at sunset, so look out pigs ! I had three feeders this morning that had been rooted around really good.

With my Sightmark, I have found that where I normally want a white background with a black dot or cross with regular scopes to zero, I want the reverse with my Sightmark. Black background with a white cross or dot. I am able to see that easier at 100 yards to zero it easier.

Must have seen at least 30 deer, 3 coons, and half a dozen coyotes last night...but not one pig ! I gave up at midnight so they were probably there by 12:30.

We’ve sat out in perfect conditions until 1-2 AM and not seen pigs.

To break the boredom and stay awake we’d pack up the gear start the truck and drive a 1/4 mile over the hill to check another area.

By the time we get back to the field at 245 am - pigs everywhere.

It’s as though they wait you out and when you leave they come in, no noises, no scouts, they just appear.

Happened at least 5 times just like this over the last 3-4 years.

Coincidence ??? I think not

So wait till 11 pm and then leave and quietly check back by midnight and see if your hogs do what our hogs do

Tried two different sites last night, and only connected with one boar. Not a huge one, but another one done gone...
I guess the Grendel was sighted okay..
