Boar Skull - 06/14/18 09:06 PM

Forgot to show the bleached skull I got back from the taxidermist after he did the 600 LB open mouth boar mount.
He said it would make a nice coffee table center piece.

Yea, you're right , hog + hunter 750 lbs ,....skinned and dressed at 286, got 190 lbs sausage out of it .lot of waste since the cut bones with a sawzall and got bone chards in the meat.

You're right, a more accurate estimate would be #100 lbs,....its actually tiny can we see YOUR biggest one ? At any rate my handicapped son took it with a 7MM rem mag, he lost half his brain when he was 11 and can only shoot with one arm.

Congrats to your son. You claimed 600 lb hog. You claimed 286 skinned and dressed. All I’m asking is where are the other 314 lbs? It’s just a question no reason to get butthurt.

Nice hog but no reason to make it any bigger than it actually was. A legitimate 300lb hog is something to brag about.

Re: Boar Skull - 06/15/18 10:17 PM

The Taxidermist in Ojai was Chuck Testa, he said just the head required him to call his neighbor over to lift it up , the reason they only got 190 lbs of sausage was because all the ribs and chops were too tough to do anything with.
As I explained , there was a lot of waste due to the sawzall cutting, I don't know how accurate the scale was , but it was hitting 600, Don't most animals without the head, skin and guts run about 50% of the total weight ?

I remember the story, it was a good one. Congratulations to your Son. Looks like some pretty country too. Oak covered coulees and canyons. Very nice.
