Thermal Scope for Hog Hunting - 05/03/18 01:05 PM
Not looking to spend $10k, but need something that works.
Have any of you guys bought a thermal scope?
Well, yeah!
What are you willing to spend? In what environments do you shoot? How far do you normally shoot and what is the farthest you are likely to shoot?
I think the best low end scope is the Pulsar Apex XQ50 that will get you out comfortably to 250 and 300 isn't out of the question.
Mid range price and long range shooting capability, consider the FLIR PTS736
Mid range+ price, Trijicon IR Hunter MKII 35mm, lots of quality, easy to learn to use, great general purpose thermal hunting scope.

I just can't justify the the price of the thermal stuff so went with night vision.

Not you personally, just your choice...
night vision is fine if you are out in the open - took quite a few that way. But, with my thermal i have been able to stalk more and take down many in the woods that I could not have done with my night vision. It was hard to pull the plug on the cost, but glad I did it.
I don't understand asking about thermal and then buying a gumball machine.
