Last Night's Sow

Last Night's Sow - 11/21/17 07:01 PM

Drove out to check the feeders last night and saw this lady plowing through the corn. I stopped, grabbed the .223. put the green laser dot on her eye and popped her as she was leaving the feeder. Nice solid "whacking" sound, so I knew I'd made a solid hit. Didn't hear any squealing. Gave her a few minutes and then went looking for her. I looked for over an hour but couldn't find blood or any freshly mashed grass. Because we haven't had a freezing rain to knock the grass down, it's almost shoulder high in many areas, including the area where I shot her. I stuck a marker in the ground to help me find where to begin my morning search, and called it an evening. This morning, bright and early, I went back out to the site, parked the truck, got the rifle out, and began searching. I almost stumbled across her, not 5 yards from my marker! Looked like the shot went in her ear and the bullet stayed inside her cranial cavity, as there was no exit wound and her eyes were very 'bugged out.' Drug her out for a photo op and then hauled her to the bone yard.

For some reason, DN, I can't get the pic to upload! It's a jpg, and I get indications that it has uploaded, but when I post, only the text comes through. Of course, if you've seen one dead sow you've pretty much seen them all, but I'll keep trying to figure out what the problem is.

I resized it after noticing that it was 5.9 meg; too large by 1.9 meg! Normally I get a message stating that the file is too large, but I didn't get it this time. But here she is:

Looks like she sat a little too close to the campfire.

Dead hog, ergo good hog.

Keep After 'Em!
