"Leaving the Property" Boar

"Leaving the Property" Boar - 10/17/17 04:26 PM

I just love to get these, especially after seeing a bunch of nothing for 4 hours. You know how it is, you think nothing is moving, your hunt is over, so you creep out of the property, hoping to see a hog or coyote that might give you a shot, but not really expecting anything to happen because that is exactly how the rest of the night has gone. Well, I came around a corner and spied a bunch of animals out in front of me. A couple were up and I could see long necks, meaning they were not hogs. Some were bedded down and I could see their heads popped up above the grass - not hogs. Some were grazing, but one of the grazing animals was moving around quite a bit more than the others and I watched him for about 30 seconds before I decided that he may be a hog and that I needed to get closer...

And yeah, I said "fuel truck blind" in the video. One of the elevated stands on the property is built over the front end of an old fuel truck that had its cab removed, LOL.

"... a little worse for wear." I'm sure that's what he was thinking just before the coup de grace shot. smile

Poor ol' hog — he's probably thinking "How many times is this guy going to kill me?"

Answer: As many times as it takes!

Keep After 'Em!

Good job! Perforated hogs are just as good as one-shotters!! The important thing is that they're out of the breeding pool.

Indeed!!!

I would always prefer a one-shot quick DRT hog. It is more humane and cheaper, but the bottom line is getting rid of the hogs.

Had a "leaving the property" moment last night. Went out looking for pigs and didn't see anything. Walked back to leave and saw 10 hogs digging up the dirt around my truck.. LOL!!

I've had that happen. My buddy and I have a firm rule — "No shooting the truck!"

I like your comment about moving around a lot. I guide my friends and colleagues workers from time to time....I tell them to look for the bush that's moving like it's high on cocaine! We also also use the movement to differentiate between deer and pigs while glassing at night.
