Any mitigation plan for bullet pass-through / deflection???
Yeah, don't shoot with any exotics anywhere behind the hogs. I can pass on pulling the trigger but can't get a pass on killing or injuring and expensive piece of property.
Well done! Good reading of the deer and picking up on its attention to a specific area for you to search! At night, with not much to use as geographic reference points, it's tough to tell "where they fell." I've had to resort to buzzard watching (the next day) to find some of my night time kills.
This was all frustrating. I "knew" the approximate area based on the trees behind the hog and by the vehicles in the image, but those were all references quite a bit farther back. I thought I knew the distance because it appeared that the hog was walking back and forth on the car trail. That was just plain wrong. After the first check where I expected to find it in the road, I reviewed the video and went back and looked again. All I can figure is that I didn't walk right by the correct spot. After the deer alerting, I went back and started walking transects about every 10 feet. When I finally spotted the hog, I was only about 5 or 6 feet away from it. So basically, it wasn't readily apparent unless you were just about on top of it.
Ha! I have used buzzards many times as well, but a carcass covered in buzzard poo makes for poor pictures, LOL.
