Taking a rookie out in the morning for a spot and stalk at Bardwell, I have been seeing a lot of good activity now just got to find them.

Lots of tracks and rooting, but no shots fired. Night hunting with thermal there would be much more productive.

New guy enjoyed himself.

Thats a fact, too bad they don't allow it. However pour a hundred pounds of corn out next to the thickest brush you can find and watch it early in the morning. Pour some used cooking oil over it.

They do not allow baiting at bardwell either but everyone does it.

Try the North end of the lake where the creek comes into the lake. Park at the end of coke road and walk North East to the creek and follow it north. A lot of them are up there. When I lived out there I killed several out there stalking them.

Lots of tracks in that area, that is where we were at. There was also other people in that area that morning so I am sure they were hunkered down in the cedar bushes.

they like to hang out on the other side of the creek as well in that tall grass. Also the first entrance right at the coke road if you go down the trail to the right.. on the left of the trail towards the lake they used to bed in that area sometimes and could get them right at dark.

Most Corps of Engineers lakes allow baiting. I have only hunted Aquilla and Whitney which both allow the use of "hand" spread bait, no mechanical devices. I'll look up Bardwells rules.

There is no rule against baiting for hogs or deer that I could find but oddly Crossbows are banned as are muzzleloaders yet you can hunt hogs with a shotgun or regular archery.

Same here. You may want to verify with the CoE office first.
