NESTED Sow with Piglets

NESTED Sow with Piglets - 01/12/17 06:58 PM

This turned out to be a much more challenging hunt than anticipated. I was using an IR Hunter MKIII 60mm 4.5x scope and expecting to see hogs at one of two feeders that were more than 100 yards distant, which is great for the extra magnification of the MKIII 60. Instead, I ended up shooting a sow at 25 yards that had nested just 35 yards from the stand that I was in all night.

The sow had an actual nest where she had brought in and stacked up grass under a small stand of 6 or 8 cedar trees and a couple of oak trees. She had a pretty nifty little shelter and it made it very difficult to identify what was inside of it...

I tried to catch the piglets, but had no luck. I never found the piglet that I wounded.

I would like to be the Boogie Man in pig-lore, but I would just be one of many Boogie Men they would have stories about, LOL.

Okay, maybe you're just one of many, but you're surely pretty high on the list.

The Turkey Buzzard Preservation Society has you on their honor roll as well, I'm sure!

Thanks y'all!

The videos are usually a lot more exciting than the actual hunt, as all the excitement gets basically concentrated into a highlight reel...sort of like watching somebody else's baseball game where the news folks tell you who played, show the home runs, and give you the final score. rofl

Awesome video up
See allot of those grass piles out in the marsh. I've gotten about six feet away before they make a run for it.
