That with the IR that comes with the scope, any other moon light that night? Not to good is it. Hard to have follow up shot with the smoke in your eyes, scope.

Dalee, Aug 1 was a new moon, tiny sliver, so not any real additional ambient light there.

The "smoke in your eyes" result is typical of any NV scope (traditional or digital) that needs the benefit of an IR illuminator where the illuminator is mounted on the rifle (versus offset illumination located well away from the shooter) during calm conditions. This is caused by the light of the IR being reflected off of the smoke and particulates expelled from the rifle. The length of the obstruction would indicate that conditions were very calm that night. With a slight breeze, this phenomenon may not even occur or be over so fast as to not be noticeable.

The date and time is wrong, as his was a few nights ago. But it was heavy woods with a lane cleared. The X-Sight II is not a starlight scope so it would have to be a super bright full moon to allow you to see with it. Any kind of muzzle smoke will mask the IR light as it will reflect off of it.

This is the stock IR light at 100 yards. The stock light is not that good, and have upgraded to the T-50 for general use, but I wanted to post a video of all stock equipment for those who were asking to see one.

But dead hog is the result! woot!
