45 ACP's on the piggies - 08/16/16 01:51 PM
I reloaded some 45 ACP ammo with 230 grain Remington Gold Dot HP's. I have executed quite a few hogs with my Judge, using 45 Colt reloads that I have cooked up, and they've been very deadly at 20-25 yards. So I wanted to see what the 45 Colt's baby brother would do. I recovered this bullet the other day from a sow that tipped the scales at 138 pounds. It entered low and behind the left shoulder, pureed the heart, and was stuck right under the skin on the right shoulder area. The range was 34 yards, and I was using my 45 ACP carbine. She went down hard, and other than some squealing and kicking, didn't move from the spot she fell.
