My wife is a hog whisperer - 02/20/16 02:26 PM
Hey gang,
I'm a PA resident and have been hunting pigs in Texas for the last five years. My wife grew up in Indiana in a hunting family but never big game hunted until we started going to Texas. For the first few years we hunted together in the same blind and would each take turns shooting. This netted 2 pigs in three years of hunting. Last year we split up to increase our odds and my wife ended up shooting three pigs while I didn't see a single pig. This year - same story. I saw two groups but missed a shot at one and couldn't get a shot at the 2nd group. My wife on the other hand connected on all three of her opportunities. The first pig weighed 108 pounds and turns out it was the same pig I missed at my stand. The second pig weighed 154 pounds. After shooting 2 pigs we thought we should send her to the least productive stand on the ranch in order to give everyone else an opportunity. She ended up shooting a 268 pound boar which is the biggest pig they've killed on the ranch to date. Weapon is a TC Encore 243 and the ranch is in the Stephenville area. You all live in a great state and we're thankful we have the opportunity to come down each year.
