When's the best time to go out hunting for hogs? I'm going to be hunting on lake lavon and have never done so before.

Well I'm guessing that's public property so you can only hunt daylight hours. Be as early as possible and/or hunt as late as they will let you

I can hunt hugs even at night unless it's deer season

I'm sure you can hunt hugs whenever you would like.
If you can hunt there at night I would hunt from 4:30pm til you don't want to hunt any longer.

As pappy once said: Tis more about right place than right time ... If first time hunting their, get their just as sun comes up... Get used ta surroundings... Might catch some still moving before they bed down... If theirs been a lot of pressure in area your in, your seeing good sign, but nothing on holf, chances are it done at night, & hogs gonna be bedded in hard ta reach out of way places... Every hour their brings ya an hour closer ta seeing one... Tis missing my hunts... flag

Lake Lavon is 24/7, hogs only. Lights ok but no spotlighting. Stay north of 380 and shotgun slug only.

Best time I've seen is sunset and right after.

Make sure you read the regs closely for Lavon, some areas are archery only and some, as IamMr2 said, are slug. You have to have a permit from the Corps of Engineers office at the dam.

Now that its warming up. Very early and right before sunset are prime times.

They are moving most at night on the ranches I am hunting. 1-4 am.... Unpressured hogs are still coming out during the cooler days. Hard to imagine public lands where they don't feel pressured.

I hunt Lake Lavon COE quite a bit and have not seen a hog out there since July.. When the property flooded they moved shop to higher ground and have not returned to my knowledge.. I might need to change the area I have been hunting but have not had the time to scout other areas. My best results have come between 8:45pm and 9:30pm.

What areas are hotspots right now out there?

Have you been out there recently? If so what area are you seeing them in? Also, are you spot and stalk hunting or sit and wait?

While haven't hunted Lake Laverne, have hunted many WMA... Usualy target after the deer seasons is over... using the pudding one foot in front of de udder method boots on ground finding the fresh sign then slowly moving keepng eyes roving for movement, stop & go... Have chased many a bedded hogs up... had coupe of video of doing that in the public hunting part... Think that's the first place seen were public hunting land can hunt hogs at night... reason WMA can be a hot spot for hog hunting, their not 24-7-365 hunts & some ares tough ta hunt out of the way areas... me english & grammer might not be the best but as papay says: i knows what i knows flag

Was out there this afternoon and got within 75 yards of a couple of good size hogs. Just couldn't get a decent shot through the thick brush.
